THE LX-200 (10") DELUXE SADDLE

       The HI-TECH Kit was designed as a Permanent Change to the MOUNT, with the addition of two fillers to spread the FORKS an additional 3/8 inch and DIRECTLY REPLACEABLE  DEC axis assemblies that also increase the fork opening allowing the original 10" OTA  to be easily  slid on and off the SADDLE.  This also allows simple adjustments for balance front to back, to accommodate changes in  weight of accessories attached to the telescope, such as Cameras,  CCD's, and  Aux. focusers etc.  One additional benefit to this arrangement is that even with a JMI focuser, Focal reducer and a CCD such as a ST-7 it is possible to swing through the FORKS with the addition of a simple counterweight system that allows the OTA to be moved forward to the point that the accessories will the base.

The above idea's were originally presented as a commercial product, but are freely given for any one to use. It is hoped that if time permits a more detailed article can be put together on the construction of these saddles.
