Configuring the Mac

Connecting to ZipLink Using your Macintosh

  1. Make sure that you have MacTCP or Open Transport installed on your computer. If neither MacTCP nor Open Transport is installed on your computer, consult your Apple documentation for instructions on installing the appropriate software. The instructions that follow assume that you are using MacTCP 2.0.6 or Open Transport 1.1. MacTCP comes standard with System 7.5 and later. Open Transport comes with System 7.5.2 and above.
  2. Ziplink has free Mac software that has everything you need to connect with. Click on the News button and read about it on Ziplink's News page.
  3. You will need a program that can make a ppp connection. MacPPP and FreePPP are both able to make ppp connections and there are others. Installing MacPPP will place a control panel called Config PPP in your Control Panels folder, and an extension called PPP in your Extensions folder. FreePPP will put an extension call Freeppp and a menu for FreePPP setup in your memubar. Both of these programs are available for download from most any Mac Archive site or on-line service.
