Win3x Configuration
To configure your Windows 3.x Trumpet Winsock, follow these directions
exactly:
- In the File menu of your trumpet winsock (tcpman.exe), go to ppp options,
and turn ON pap (password authentication protocol) switch.
- Insert your HOST NAME in the username field
- Insert your password in the password field.
- Press okay
- Go to Setup (also in your File menu).
- Insert 0.0.0.0 into the IP address field.
- Into the Name Server field, insert 206.15.168.65 .. 206.15.168.69 ..
- Uncheck the internal PPP radio button
- Insert 255.255.255.0 into the NetMask field.
- Check ON the internal ppp radio button.
- Set your slip port according to your modem port
- Set your baud rate according to your modem
- Set "Hardware Handshake" On
- Set "Van Jacobson CSLIP Compression" On,
- Select "DCD (RLSD) check" in the "Online Status Detection"
section.
- Restart the trumpet winsock.
- If you get the "cannot load tcp" error, turn off the machine,
let it sit for a minute, and restart.
Now you are ready to dial.
- Pull down the dialer menu, and select manual login.
- Dial our local POP, and wait.
- When you SEE it connect, press escape.
- You should be connected to the Internet at this time. Try Netscape or any other Internet software you have.
