Configuring News Clients for Username/Password Authentication

Configuring Microsoft Internet News for Username/Password Authentication*

Do not make these changes before Tuesday, April 27

1. From Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.x, select "Go" and then select "Read News" from the drop-down menu.
2. From within Internet News, Click on "News" and then select "Options" from the drop-down menu.
3. Click on the "Server" tab.
4. Click on the "Properties" button.
5. Select the "General" tab.
6. Check the box next to "This server requires me to logon." The "Logon settings" group should become available.
7. Click the radio button next to "Logon using".
8. Enter your ppp login name into the "Account Name:" field.
9. Enter your password in the "Password:" field.
10. Click "OK".
