Configuring News Clients for Username/Password Authentication

Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express for Username/Password Authentication*

Do not make these changes before Tuesday, April 27

1. From Outlook Express, right click on the news server servername in the left hand window, then click Properties from the drop-down menu that appears.
2. Click on the "Server" tab.
3. Put a check in "This server requires me to log on" checkbox, then click the "Logon using" radio button.
4. Enter your ppp login name in the "Account name" field and your password in the "Password" field. Click "OK".

*These instructions assume that Microsoft Outlook Express has already been properly configured to access our usenet server (news2.ziplink.net) without username/password authentication.
