If you are in the market for something excitingly different for your walls, you have found the right place. At this website you will be able to view samples of different painting techniques.

I'm Tom Karges, owner and operator of Karges Painting and Texture. I have been serving the Dallas and surrounding area since 1995. All work is completed by myself, not contracted out. Besides specialty painting, I also do basic interior painting, cabinet painting, texturing, and wall repair.

If you are interested in having work done, you may arrange to have a consultation at your home. Just call or email me and set up an appointment. If you desire, I will consult with you on color and texture. I keep a picture portfolio of my work and references can be furnished upon request.

Let me transform your plain walls into dramatic backgrounds.

Contact me by phone at (214) 769-2997 or by email.

Texture

Texture can be as dramatic as the paint itself or as simple and unnoticeable as you wish. There are many varieties of texturing techniques. Used in combination with the correct painting style and color, it can create a look or feel to meet any need.

Glazing

Also called washing or aging. This painting technique is done by applying a glaze to existing wall color. A glaze is simply a paint that is similar to a stain in that it provides a translucent coloring of the surface. The glaze is rubbed onto the wall and then rubbed off, leaving pigment in the crevasses of the wall texture. This makes it important to have a nice texture to show off. This same technique can be used to tea stain wall paper or white wash wood moldings. The color range is unlimited as well as its use.

Technique

I refer to any type of painting that uses a tool, other than a basic paint brush, as technique painting. A tool can be a sponge, feather duster, rag or any item that can be used to apply paint onto a surface. In this category, I also use tape or measured lines to create stripes or other patterns such as diamonds.

Stencil

Stencils can be purchased at various home improvement or craft supply stores. They can also be made out of various materials in designs of your choosing. Stenciling can be combined with other techniques to create interesting wall treatments that are truly custom.

Metallics

Using metallic paints, almost any object or surface can be made to look like a metallic product. This is great for art objects, picture frames, statuary, or adding  a special touch to anything.
