Brockton 28 Leominster 6 LEOMINSTER-- It had been nine long years since the Leominster Blue Devils defeated Eastern Mass. power Brockton. Make it 10. Behind the solid passing of senior quarterback Matt Pileski, the Boxers rolled past the Blue Devils, 28-6, last night at Doyle Field before 2,500 fans. Pileski picked apart the Leominster secondary completing 10 of 15 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran for a score. "Pileski is a great athlete," said Brockton coach Armond Colombo. "We missed him for a couple of games and he came back strong. We're back to respectability and hopefully that will continue. I'm very proud of these kids. they beat an undefeated team." Leominster's hopes for an undefeated season came to an abrupt end. The Blue Devils are 6-1. Meanwhile, the Boxers evened their record at 3-3. "They're a good football team," said John Dubzinski, the Blue Devils coach. "For some reason, we just have trouble matching up against them. It's a great challenge to play them and one of these days we're going to get them." Brockton totaled 287 yards to Leominster's 131. The Boxers also picked off LHS quarterback Jon Quinn three times. Brockton scored on its second possession. Pileski hit receiver Rynard Wilson on a 54-yard scoring reception with 3:07 remaining in the first quarter to go on top, 6-0. Moments later, a Tim Nowokunksi fumble gave the Boxers the ball on the Leominster 31. However, the Blue Devils' defense stiffened without any damage. That wasn't the case on Brockton's next possession. An 18-yard punt return by Robert Whitaker put the Boxers on the Leominster 34. A 10-yard pass followed by runs of 11 and 9 yards set up a Pileski 4-yard scoring run with 4:25 remaining before halftime. Lindsey Ferebee's conversion run made it 14-0. Brockton opened the second half with a scoring drive that began at its 27. Facing a third-and-6 on his 31, Pileski connected with Jason Spry for a 19-yard completion. Miguel Cummings then gained 25 yards on two runs. A few moments later, Pileski and Spry hooked up again on a 15-yard scoring play. A Wilson conversion run made it 22-0 with 6:02 showing in the third quarter. Leominster finally got on the board on the ensuing possession as Chris Powers bolted in from 3 yards out with 2:44 left in the quarter to cap a 64-yard drive. The Boxers put this one out of reach midway through the fourth as they drove 71 yards with Spry hauling in a 10-yard Pileski pass in the back of the end zone with 5:58 to go. "It's frustrating," said Dubzinski. "We never had any good field position. But I'm really not disappointed because I thought our kids played really hard to the very end and that's all you can ask of them."
