A short scouting report on Cathedral

              Covered Cathedral's 35-0 win over Central
              and came away very impressed with overall
              ability on the team, although no real star.
               Panthers offense relies on perfect
              execution, running three-back, Wing-T
              formation with lots of misdirection. Strong
              running team, with multiple threats in Mike
              and Vin Buoniconti and fullback Will Torres.
              Mike Buoniconti has average speed but great
              vision and runs hard ... also hits the hole
              quickly. Torres is underrated, great at
              picking up two or three tough yards when the
              teams needs it.
               QB B.J. Lawlor a big, strong guy that runs
              the offense well and is a good runner ...
              throwing needs work but is effective on
              rollouts.
               Defensively watch out -- this team gets
              after it. Everybody hits, especially LB
              Anthony Luvera and DL doesn't get as much
              credit but is very tough. Sam Sword, Bill
              Ostiguy, etc. all good run stuffers, and DE's
              are tall and get in passing lanes on throws.
               Mike Rivard anchors the secondary ... Good
              athletes at every position, no obvious weak
              link.
               Coach Matt Ballard takes pride in his play
              calling and does a very solid job at mixing
              things up ... Screens on offense are very
              effective, especially with the mis-direction
              in the backfield ... Sounds like it will be a
              great game.
