PERSONAL STUFF
This is some info about me and my family. My name's Manny Durao. I live in Connecticut with my wife and two beautiful children. I was Born in Hartford, CT, when my parents say it was nice place to live in. Go figure, I still think its a cool place to hang. I spent four great years in the U.S. Air Force, mostly in California stationed at George Air Base. While there my daughter Rosa was born in Apple Valley (Home of Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans, for the trivia minded). After working for Uncle Sam , We moved back to Connecticut where my son Keith was born in Manchester. I then started working for the next biggest bureaucracy I.B.M. , which I spent 10 years with as a customer engineer. Worked with some really cool people, we were definitely a different breed. I now work for UnitedHealth Care as a AIX system administrator and Oracle DBA, at least in title. The project that I was on has transitioned, so I'm doing Desktop support. That's life.
This is a picture of me my sister Bea, my brother Jose, and my brother-in-Law Bob.It was taken in August of 96 during or vacation to Portugal. We usually try to go there every year on vacation, to visit my parents who are retired there. I also have a very special bond with Portugal, since its where my parents emigrated from (so I am what is called a Luso-American, for the politically correct). I also was fortunate to spend my junior High and High School years there. Its a very beautiful country with a mixture of old and new. It was especially nice last year since it was the first time that all my brothers and sister were able to get together in a long time.
My wife Val, who is Medical Technician with the Ear, Nose & Throat Group of Manchester, Ct. The practice of Dr. Paul Norman and Dr. Harvey Kahaner who performed my throat surgery when I had a bacterial infection, to which I am deeply grateful for the great care they provided( It sucks waking up from surgery). As a side note they also let Val spend a lot of time in the hospital with me. As Dr Kahaner said she's taking care of our patient. Again thank you very much. Now back to my lovely wife Val. She was born in Akureyri, Iceland. A beautiful island country in the North Atlantic.
