 Airborne SAR Surface Imaging

      A sample of WINSAR airborne data is shown below. The lower panel below is a wide band SAR image taken by the WINSAR system operating in a P-3 at 200 ft altitude over the Army Corps of Engineers pier at Duck, NC. The radar center frequency was 350 MHz and the waveform had 150 MHz bandwidth. The image resolution is one meter. The dark portion of the image is smooth, wet sand that reflects the radar signal away from the radar

Simultaneous Ultra-Wideband SAR Image of Scene Above

      This image, taken on the same mission, compares real aperture data (top panel) before and after SAR processing. A row of houses can be seen at 680 feet downrange, with a setback in the row at 3750 in cross-range. Vertically from the houses, we see the line of dunes, the beach, and the breakers.
