A Change in Direction
|
8/31/98
| |
Seeing as I don't really have enough time to keep any real content going, I have decided to refocus
and make the purpose of BlueTooth's Polls to setup polls on other people's websites. This will remain free
and fully customizable. I will leave the Quake 2 poll stuff up to demonstrate my poll software. If there is enough
demand, I will rewrite the poll software to be more powerfull.

Two New Polls
|
5/7/98
| |
Well, two new polls today. One about LAN parties and the other asking
on what condition you will buy Quake III. I'd love to see the discussion
continue in the forum. Don't be afraid to register, it's fast, free, and
effective immediately.

Up for discussion
|
4/21/98
| |
I posted a new topic in the Community Discussion section of the forum,
I'd be interested to see what people have to say. Also, note that if anyone else posts
something which I think other people would like to discuss, I'll post a news here to remind
you that the forum actually exists.

New Poll
|
4/13/98
| |
Well, I didn't really like the poll about iD's fundamentals that much
(mostly because many people thought it was poorly worded), so I have replaced
it with an interesting one about the grappling hook speed in Q1 vs. Q2 CTF.
Check it out. I'm really sort of forced to leave the others up because there
are so few votes. Let's hope that that changes soon

What about Blue?
|
4/5/98
| |
Recently, Blue posted what was supposed to be news
of our new polls, with his own little opinion thrown in. He commented: "BlueTooth's
Quake II Polls Page seem to offer as much opinion in the way their questions are phrased
as they are asking for, so it's kind of a give-and-take poll." I believe that we would
be referring to the "good ol' id?" question at the top of the list in this rotation.
I was wondering how people felt about this, personally, I feel that the wording of the
question is very adequate. I would welcome any feedback on the matter. Check the rant board
for my true feelings on this matter .

Closed polls
|
3/29/98
| |
For your viewing pleasure, all the closed polls are now on one page.
At the rate traffic is coming in, this rotation might be two weeks long,
unless we can get the votes up. What happened to all those people who took
the first rotation polls? Also, there is an un-censored rants Forum up in
the

New, BlueTooth Forum
|
3/27/98
|
Well, we've decided to give you another way to get the opinions of fellow Quakers.
The BlueTooth Forum is our new message board. Although you must register, it is free,
and you will have instant access. Due to popular demand, the rotation period will be
one week. This should keep things moving well. The first week is up, and we will
have our first user polls up in just a few hours I will post news again when it
is complete.

it out!

You can now check the current results of any
poll at any time. To do this, simply click the check () mark next to the
poll for which you want see results. The reason this feature wasn't there
originally is because we thought people might not take the polls, or might
be influenced by seeing the results before taking the poll. However, several
people have recommended this feature, so we put it in.

Hmph
|
3/24/98
|
Well, I just received my second anonymous e-mail since I opened the site.
The person claimed that they couldn't use my site with IE 2.1 Beta, and that
their daddy wouldn't do anything about it and if I would please buy him a new
browser. Funny thing is the header file, which indicated:
X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 4.71.1712.3
You gotta love this crap. If anyone wants the full message,
I'd love to forward a copy to anyone interested (why you would be, I don't know).

Frustration
|
3/23/98
| |
I had no access to my FTP account all day Sunday, so we still have no ability
for multi-part polls (sigh). School vacation is over, so I won't have time to
work on that until next weekend. In other news, I would like to thank
Massacre of [The Hive]
for putting up our link. His site is new, just like ours, and I would like to
encourage you to go there, I can tell he has worked hard to get that site up.
I will post any "news" for this site throughout the week, although I can't assure
you that anything really interesting will happen. On another front, many people
have been asking about seeing the results days after having taken a poll. While
I'm not going to set up another poll for this, if anyone has strong feelings about
free access to poll results at anytime, without having to (re)take the poll,
please e-mail me with your proposal for a solution.

Woo-Hoo 2
|
3/21/98
| |
Well, I must say, all you people have really been great. Due to the number
of positive e-mails I've received, all doubt in my mind if this site bombing
are gone (can you believe I was thinking such thoughts?) Anyway, we now have
enough poll suggestions to last us a couple of weeks. Head over to the
Coming Up page and maybe send in some ideas that
refine upon the ones already there.

Well, Blue's listed us and the hits have started to roll in and its not even
prime time yet. We have yet to get any feedback from anyone (hint). There's not
much else to say. We will be upgrading our software on this Sunday (read: we will
be rewriting our software). No one should notice anything, we will just be adding
capacity for more complex polls.

Stuffing Stuffed

In an attempt to continue to provide you with accurate information from our
polls, we have modified our scripts to prevent multiple votes from one IP.
We realize that the majority of you out there have dynamic IPs and could just
sign off and back on to vote again, but this still stops any one from sitting on
the reload button and screwing things up. We also realize that there is the
possibility that you may not have voted, but someone else with your IP has.
If this is the case, you may e-mail
us with the name of the poll, and the selection you want to make and we will vote for you.

Opening Day!
|
3/14/98
| |
Well, the site is finally opening. As of now, anything you see here is meant
to be here. We are very enthusiastic about the potential the site has. Today
we'll start accepting any requests for polls. The idea is not to have us decide
what all Quake players want to know, that's why we rely primarily on the viewers
of this page to request content. I hope this site is well received into the web
of Quake sites, and can quickly grow into a center of information in the Quake(II)
(maybe Trinity, Prey, Unreal, etc.) community.
