We give you the opportunity to learn the Spanish appropriate to a particular cultural context. We offer four levels of instruction from beginning through advanced. Our Cross-Cultural Spanish programs for the business field are taught at your company. Our Cross-Cultural Medical Spanish programs are taught at Boston University School of Medicine or at your offices. Estrada, President and founder of Connect With Spanish Language Center, moved to Massachusetts from her native Ecuador in 1989. Maria A. Estrada founded L'Mieux (dry goods manufacturing business) at only 20 years of age. Later she founded Sumicom S.A. a whole sale company distributing products from 3M, GILLETTE and SONAPAL. Estrada came to the U. S. A. seeking medical help for her 6 year-old son, Javier. As reported in the Boston Herald, she was "puzzled by the attitudes she perceived even among bilingual personnel who otherwise seemed eager to help." At that time Estrada was also teaching Spanish at Brookline Adult Education and became aware through her students questions of the need for cross-cultural training. Out of this evolved "Connect With Spanish." When policy holders are knowledgeable about the different policies and procedures the company can provide better services and decrease the number of complaints.</li> </ul> </blockquote> <blockquote> <ul> <li><b>Educators</b> come to our programs because they want to help their Latino student's interaction in the classroom setting. Teachers want to address not only the academic needs of Latino students, but also other cultural aspects of their educational experience. </li> </ul> </blockquote> <blockquote> <ul> <li>The <b>hotel industry</b> employs a great number of Latinos because they are dedicated and committed to their work. Nevertheless, a good number of them have problems communicating and take longer to get accustomed to the American way of doing things. Training is essential but very few funds are available for this. Translating information and developing job aides it is the way to deal with this.
