SHAKESPEARE'S JUDAICA AND DEVICES
by David Basch
This book continues the exploration of Shakespeare's works that began
with David Basch's book, The Hidden Shakespeare. It sheds further light on the
great poet s Jewish origin and his use of Talmudic and Aggadic -- non legalistic
-- allusions in his work. These revealing elements add up to a major testimony
on the poet's personal values and beliefs, enabling a never before attainable
understanding of his work and him as a man.
Among many new revelations:
Judaic elements in The Tempest. Chapter 1, "Mysterious
Tempest," is positively spell binding. Not only is William Shakespeare
revealed as a poet much home with arcane Judaic lore, but one who brings
in this play a message of world significance.
New evidence that William Shakespeare participated in the writing
of the King James Version of the Bible. It has long been known that
there are ciphers of Shakespeare's full name in Psalm 46 of the KJV.
However, additional analysis shows that these ciphers are even
more elaborate than merely the citing of the poet's name. (New information
on this has been presented in The Shakespeare
Codes and now a two-part
inquiry on this subject -- articles dated 11/02, 12/02 -- with never
before presented evidence can
be downloaded from the bottom of the main page of this web site.)
These new findings leave little doubt that the poet's hand has been
active in this majestic work of translation.
A survey of never before revealed Judaic elements that are to be
found in a cross section of the poet's work, including his use of Hebrew as
a telltale sign in naming some of his characters.
Shakespeare's devices. Among other revelations, we discover the
poet's identification of himself as a scion of the three Hebrew Patriarchs a
testimony to be read from the design of his Coat of Arms
(try finding it yourself) and learn as well
of his legacy of portraits of himself, a young, red-haired Shakespeare, and
the mysterious Friend of the Sonnets, painted by the renowned Elizabethan
royal court painter Nicholas Hilliard, presenting for the first time their
significant Judaic content.
Hamlet in depth. The many parallels between Hamlet and the Bible's
Ecclesiastes are revealed, including the talmudic controversies that are
integral parts of the story and which provide essential keys to the
understanding of this masterpiece of drama. (See both links on Home Page.)
