CompaqPLUS is VERY happy to be helping the community with its set of web pages.
What is very uplifting for us is when we find others think the pages help out the community! For example, the "People's Choice Award" was decided by mostly heterosexual people as the best site on the web under the Alternative Lifestyles section. The CompaqPLUS Executive Board is quite happy to know that what we have been trying to do, helping others, is starting to work. We have the ONLY business site that is linked to the National Gay & Lesbian Hotline page. Brad Becker, the Executive Director at NG&LH had this to say:

Webmaster and although we generally aren't able to list individual local
organizations yet, we wanted to make an exception for your group since it is
doing such important work in the local community.

We were was first awarded the Freedom Award on October of 1996 when the page first entered the scene on the internet. We are proud to win our first award.
When we won our second award of the month, we were quite pleased. Not that we won an award, but for the reasons behind it. We were a page that was deemed to help the b/g/l/t community. This is the type of an award that can't be beat!
In January of 1997 we won this award. What is great about it is that this award was based on the page layout for easy reading/surfing, along with content.
The People's Choice Award is one that we will remember for quite some time. This award was given to us by the readers of Home PC magazine. And the reason why it stands out is that this magazine chose tour page as the best on the web for alternative lifestyles. This was chosen by mostly heterosexual community. It is nice to see that we are having an impact on everyone!
The latest award was given to us due to the pages are helping the b/g/l/t community. We are PROUD to display this award!
We were informed we won this present award on January 2nd, 1998. This award means a lot to the CompaqPLUS community because it was something we had to go up against other sites to win. 13 sites were up for this award and the b/g/l/t web users cast their vote. We won for best resourses site!!!
On February 7, 1998, we won the Black Claw Award for Service. This award was given by the International Guild of Gay Webmasters. Their Awards Committee is composed of web design professionals from around the world. They only consider five sites each month for this award, and we are now among a select few who may display this award on our site. We should all be justifiably proud of this accomplishment.
We were quite happy to win the Artistic Reality Award as it helped show us that the graphical design of the page is greatly appreciated. We are proud to win this latest award!
We got this next award on June 28th due to page layout, design and content. Ravi is a Webmaster that gives out awards to those site that appeal to him. He had looked at our page and found it very easy to manuever, informative and very good on the eye. We are happy to win this latest award.
The latest and greatest comes from Canada. Pretty cool, eh? Seems someone had submitted our site for an award and we won! It was based on content and manuverability. I know we are quite happy to win this one. This makes 10 awards to date!
