November 1995, Thanksgiving Pot Luck DinnerThe dinner was a complete success! We had roughly 30 people, who survived the directions to the Quaker Meeting House in Framingham, show up for a dinner that had so many different kinds of food and desserts, no one went away hungry!
As we were about to sit down, we put our plan to help make this a community dinner, into action. Instead of everyone sitting in their normal group settings, we decided to break things up and have everyone sit, girl/boy/girl/boy. It worked great! People were talking with others who they didn't know very well, and some who they did not know at all.
After dinner we all met in one room, and started to discuss the plans for the community, DECplus, and Digital. There was a lot of positive energy flowing though the room. We all came to the same conclusion. Face to face meetings are important to the community. With those types of settings, a lot of energy will flow, along with ideas getting out onto the table.
