DECplus Awards and Halloween Party
On October 19, 1996, DECplus had its first Halloween/Awards party. An old idea
with a new twist. DECplus first set up the Halloween party years ago. They were
ALWAYS a success! What we did was to take this theme, and add an Awards night
to it as well.
DECplus honored 3 of it's members for the outstanding work they did for the
b/g/l/t community. They were:
Carol duBois
Carol was a big help for the community. In fact, she has been doing some work
for Domestic Partner Benefits for years now. Carol has gone out of her way to
gather information needed for presenting to the various groups that had to
'sign on' before Digital would grant the benefits. While everything is still in
the works, it is much closer now than it would have been had Carol not gone out
and gotten the information, built a network with lots of people. Carol deserves
the Rainbow Award!
Mark Cohen
Mark was the first person in HR that DECplus contacted. What did Mark do for
DECplus? He was there for us every step of the way. He guided us to who we had
to go to for information, for help, for kicking some butt! Mark was there for
us to get an interview which many commented on was very powerful. Mark also
facilitated our Annual Meeting, which was no small task. Mark has shown he is a
friend of the b/g/l/t community. Mark deserves the Rainbow Award!
Ron Glover
Ron was instrumental with the development of DECplus. Ron was there for us when
we had talked about joining the GBBC. While money was tight, Ron was able to
get the money we needed so we could join. Ron also pushed our Logo design
through Branding when we were told they would not do it. What this allowed for
us was the making of a banner which we carried in the 1st Gay Pride Digital has
participated in for 3 years! Ron also came to both Annual Meetings we had, even
though the weather was lousy. Ron Glover deserves the Rainbow Award!
