DECplus marches in the 1997 Boston Gay Pride March!!!

In 1996, DECplus returned to Boston's Gay Pride march after a 4 year hiatis. We are now back, and back strong. But this year, DECplus is getting some extra help. Bose Corporation has asked if they could join us as they are still organizing their group. And with the DECplus group being at an all time high at work, we were destined to have the largest group yet!

So there we were, all of us together waiting for the parade to start. we had come up with an idea (thanks to Bruce Cramer) of using his Volkswagon convertable as a base, with many decorations being added on top. Our theme? It was all based around Domestic Partner Benefits, which DIGITAL announced to the company the day before! We had many people helping us get this car together. Pictured here are Frank Herring and E Grace Noonan:

We needed a Grand Marshall for the event and it made sense to have one of the three main people to bring Domestic Partner Benefits to DIGITAL. Joel Goldtien, Ron Glover and Carol duBois were all responsible for getting us the benefits. Carol and her family were all invited to sit in the car and be our Grand Marshalls! Pictured below (l to r) are Shelly, Evan, Carol and Justin:

Along with a Grand Marshall you need a slogan to go with it. Joel Goldstien came up with the key phrase we would use. "Domestic Partner Benefits, We Got 'Em!:

The final touches on the car were Bruce Cramer's words, "Just Obtained":

The Parade started and DECplus started out on their way:

So as we were starting, we were accompanied by a youth group based in Milford MA. Some of the members of M.A.A.G.L.Y. :

The two people who run the group are Wendy and Chris:

Wendy and Chris had gotten married the week before Gay Pride. Chris also works for DIGITAL. It was nice to see their union happen just in time for Domestic Partner Benefits!

Well who is marching with DECplus? Here are a few of the people:

Our own Marketing Manager, Pippa Jollie who came up with many of the ideas for this years Pride. Miss Bubbles is her name!

Here are Pippa, Don "Bubbles" Bracken and a representative from Bose Corporation, Tom Barry!

Anne Manning, Kris Krablin and our own Eboard member Penny Manners are out being walked by Anne and Kris's dogs:

And last, but far from least is our own Ramon Salas doing what he does best as Bruce Cramer looks on wondering.....

All in all we had a Gayreat time at Pride! We were back, we were strong! The feeling of unity with our other b/g/l/t brothers and sisters was something that can not be described, or forgotten. DECplus will be back next year for Gay Pride 1998!
