Thanks for all the Help you have Given DECplus
DECplus has come a long way. And as we enter into the world of CompaqPLUS, we would like to give thanks to those who have helped us out. So sit back and read on. You will begin to see that not only are we committed to making things better, but that our members and Human Resources are equally committed to making this a success!
Carol duBois:
Carol had been working with Digital trying to get domestic partnership benefits to become a reality. She started working on this while she lived in Colorado. While she did move to Massachusetts, it was not to work closer with HR. But that IS what happened. And HR depended on her as a resource for setting up the policies. DECplus thanks Carol.
Ron Glover:
Ron has worked with us during our first year. What he was able to do for us was bring our spirits up and show that HR was willing to help us. Ron came through with everything we have asked for. He paid for the GBBC membership ($265), got the DECplus logo and banner approved while making it part of the Corporate Brand. He also came to two of our Annual Meetings to hear our concerns even though they were after-hours events.. DECplus would like to thank Ron.
Mark Cohen:
Mark was intrumental to our organization during it's infancy. He was able to help us formulate some of the ideas we needed, helped us get ourselves set up for the annual meeting, and hosted it for us. He also was willing to do an interview from a straight perspective. In other words, whenever we needed him, he has been there willing to help out any way he could. Add in that he was the one who told us to set a deadline for Ron on issues (which seems to work), he has always been a BIG help for DECplus. We would like to thank Mark.
Dawn Banks:
Dawn helped us out in an area that we had no clue about, the Transgendered community. She gave us insight to a community where we had so many misconceptions about. Through her speech, a
transgendered person came out! And with her speech, she gave us all a better understanding. None of us are fully there yet, but slowly we are gaining some knowledge. DECplus would like to thank Dawn
Russ Johnson:
Russ has been a good friend to the community. He is head of World Wide Diversity, and when Digital was working to put domestic partner benefits as a policy, Russ would keep us informed of everything that was going on, when he really did not have to. He organized several meetings with various
people of the DECplus community to make sure that the plan DIGITAL was coming out with was also one that was feasible. He wanted to do this right the FIRST time. When the issue of the date to announce the benefits was being pushed out to the 16th came up, he took our concerns of wanting to celebrate at Boston's Gay Pride and was able to get the corporation to issue a pre-announcement date. DECplus would like to thank Russ.
Carol Leger:
Carol had the honor of getting together with all of the different benefits organizations throughout the US to ensure that we had benefits. She had a deadline to meet that even she thought couldn't be met, considering all the different benefits that had to be addressed. She was able to accomplish everything in time for the July 1st start-up date. That task alone had to be difficult. Carol then came to the meeting that Russ Johnson had set up and explained the benefits to the community. DECplus would like to thank Carol.
Joel Goldstien:
Joel has been instrumental in us getting DP Benefits. He has done a lot of the work behind the scenes. From keeping it in the corporate spotlight, to collecting the data for Sid, to presenting it to Bob Palmer. Joel is also instrumental for us being able to march in gay pride with us celebrating Domestic Partner Benefits. He is now working with us to bring awareness to the community, and to DIGITAL as a whole. DECplus would like to thank Joel.
Ilene Jacobs:
Ilene has been a GREAT friend of the community. She has helped us gain recognition, equality and has shown us that Corporate America isn't against us. How has she done this? First by keeping promises. From sending out a message to the entire company backing National Coming Out Day (NCOD) to having blg positive posters put up in every Digital facility, to calling us from a restaurant during a dinner to talk to the group on how important it is for us to be seen as equals. Ilene....thank you VERY much!
All of the Eboards:
The many incarnations of the Eboards from 1986-1998 were the main reason behind DECplus and DECpac's successes. None of the things you have read here would have happened without individuals who put themselves and their jobs on the line to make it a success. To all the people who volunteered their time to make the world at DEC a much better place to be, thanks... from the bottom of our hearts!
