December 29 update

The transfer to Stuart Circle went fairly smooth, though it did take a bit longer than anticipated. Sections of I-64 were single lane while they clear the debris from the recent storm. She got a great send-off from the hospital staff at Norfolk General.

Once there they got her into the 'Veil" bed, which basically looks like a big padded 4 poster bed with safety netting all around. This allows Su to thrash around without having to be restrained. She either sleeping or thrashing most of the day, the new environment scared her I think, but she calmed down and went to sleep when I got ready to leave. She is going to be pretty much disoriented the rest of the week while she gets use to her new surrounding and the new people around her. Her room in fairly small so I need to sort out what can stay there and what I can bring when I visit.

Met with the dietician and the Co-medical director. Both very nice and spent the time to go through a lot of details about what exactly they do and even gave me their direct numbers if I have a burning issue. The hospital is not as big as Norfolk General but her nurse ratio is smaller, i.e. 3-1 vice 6-1 and they really seem to have it together. That is the first impression at least.
