Dan's NGG Valentine Résumé

Why am I applying to be the NGG's Valentine? Let me tell you what I have to offer you, and you can decide for yourselves.

What is a valentine? A valentine is a friend, a romantic partner, a person to give you those little caring and uplifting things that you want. A valentine is there to say, "You are a special person in my eyes", and mean every word.

What is it you want? Are there times when you're feeling a little down, a little blue... times when you feel a little like the whole world is just against you? Having someone to talk to, to lean on, someone who will really listen to you would be oh-so-good then, wouldn't it? This valentine will be glad to do that.

Do you like little surprises? A favorite candy/card/dragon/bit of leather or whatever just given to you as an unexpected present? A quiet little romantic dinner for no better reason than you'd really enjoy it? A night out on the town for whatever suits your fancy on an otherwise ordinary Wednesday? A day of playing hooky from work and having a picnic? An evening just talking in some quiet place, and it doesn't matter if you don't get to bed until the sun comes up? Having a dab of the dessert's whipped cream placed on your nose in a fancy restaurant when nobody's looking, and then both giggling about it? All these are things I can provide.

Is there ever a time when you'd like a little help? Maybe someone to tote your latest purchase of Docs or Pointy Things (tm) for you? Someone to pick up a few of the boring household chores just because you don't feel like doing them right now? Maybe somebody just to give you a word or two of real, heartfelt encouragement when you're doing something (like removing your bike's oil pan) that you know you have to do yourself, but at the moment it's just frustrating and discouraging? A shoulder to cry on, and arms to hug you? Any of these are yours, and you don't even need to ask.

And, of course, there are times you just want to be appreciated. You want someone to acknowledge you're bright, or talented, or loving, or attractive, or all of these, and mean it. Oh, that is one of my most favorite things to do, just to see the happiness in your eyes.

Why would I do this? Because everyone needs to know they're cared about. Everyone wants to know that, even if it's just for one moment in time, that they're the most important person in the world to somebody, and that their wants and needs, their happiness, is all that matters right now.

That's what a valentine is all about. That's what I'm offering to you.
