Lawrence "Bear" Beals

When we get married, we pledge "For better or for worse, in sickness and in health." But we always expect better, and health.

Lawrence and Su are getting a generous dose of worse right now; within a mere year of their wedding day. But Bear never faultered. He's been at her side, supporting her, helping her, working hard to communicate with her, coaxing her, fighting for her and in general, just loving her. All the while continuing to remember her independance, her separate personhood, even when she is limited in what she can do for herself.

The whole NGG would like a lover like Bear, and this is why he is the original member of the NGG Valentine Hall of Fame.
