"Davey" is a song based on 3 different individuals' bad experiences over a period of time. We lumped them all together to make the point about the oftimes apparent lack of purpose of suffering.

On "Davey" John plays piano and Peter plays guitar and sings.

Davey
Words: Peter Hamm Music: John Hamm

Davey was a man, You gave nothing.
No special gift to stand out from the crowd.
I wondered why You let him lose everything
Slipping from the minds of the proud.

I remember Davey's mom the day the sickness stirred,
Faced each day clenched hard against the pain,
Always forced a smile and kindly word
Still her faith and life ran out like rain.

There is so much in the world I'll never understand,.
There is so much here that makes no sense.
There is so much in the world that seems out of Your hands,
So many trials and tragic accidents

But in a twinkling I wil know,
What I cannot see will show,
Everything I am will change.
The familiar will be strange

I can still remember Davey's hardest year,
The year he lost his job, his house, his wife,
I remember wondering if you could hear,
Davey holding on for his life.
