MOTION IN TWO DIMENSIONS |
|
TEXTBOOK: Chapter 3, pages 51 - 69.
OBJECTIVES:
Distinguish between vector and scalar quantities.
Calculate graphically the sum of two or more vectors given both magnitude and direction of the vectors.
Resolve any given vector into perpendicular components.
Calculate the sum of two or more given vectors by the method of trigonometric resolution into components.
Determine the equilibrant of a vector system if given two or more initial vectors.
Use video analysis to understand the motions of a projectile in flight.
Calculate the range of a projectile fired horizontally from a height, give its initial velocity and the height it is fired from; verify the results of this by performing an experiment.
Calculate the resultant velocity of a projectile from knowledge of its horizontal and vertical components.
Calculate the range of a projectile fired from ground level if given its initial velocity and the angle of firing.
Calculate the range of a projectile if fired from a height at an angle if given the initial velocity, the angle, and the height.
