Polish Folklore

 Enthusiasts!

In contemporary times, folk dances provide a lively link between old and new forms of social life. With all their richness they play an important role in preserving and projecting an image of national style and history. The International Folk Dance movement is a marvelous example of the mingling of a variety of styles, customs and rhythms, which make a colorful ethnic mosaic. To such mosaic, people of different origin contribute their cultural distinctiveness proving that even in today's war-torn world diverse groups can coexist peacefully and, indeed, have a lot of fun! I am convinced that Polish folk dances add color and style to that multicultural mosaic.

This is by necessity a very brief overview … much more detail is available in my 1997 book:
