The Cambridge Chorale is a chorus of about thirty women dedicated to performing music for treble voice. Our challenging and diverse repertory spans the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries and includes works from many different languages and musical forms. Our goal is to provide a unique musical experience which will both entertain and educate the community in the history of women's music. Founded in 1968 as a mixed (SATB) ensemble, and re-organized in 1980 as a women's ensemble, its director since 1978 has been composer-conductor Kenneth Seitz.
The Cambridge Chorale rehearses at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Arlington Center, MA and usually presents two concerts each year, one in December, the other in May. Each program is usually performed twice, once in a community outreach setting and once as a public concert. The majority of our members have had some choral experience prior to joining and are respectable sight readers and/or quick learners.
