Photography
All photographs on these pages were taken with 35mm black and white negative film with the exception of the Polarod transfers for which I used 35mm color positive film.
After development, the film was scanned into a computer with an HP PhotoSmart film/print scanner. Digital spotting and 'toning' were done in Adobe PhotoShopLE.
Polaroid Transfers
Polaroid transfers are prints made from Polaroid 'peel apart' film. Instead of letting the image develop for the full 60 seconds, the negative (gooey side) is separated after only about 10-15 seconds and placed on a piece of good quality (such as Arches) water color paper. The paper may be dry or it may have been soaked in water prior to the contact with the negative. After about two minutes, the negative is separated from the paper and discarded.
For an excellent step-by-step description of the process, and to see transfers done by a true expert, visit Holly F. Dupré's site.
