- In 1850 the population was 1.2 billion.
- By 2000 the world population will total 6.2 billion.
- One-half of all people who have ever been born are alive today.
- In the next 15 years, the world population will increase by more than the total number of people (1.2 billion) who inhabited the planet in 1850.
- Human life span has increased from 47 yrs. in 1900 to 75 yrs today.
- In the equivalent of 2 lifetimes, the world population has increased more than fivefold.
- Experts warn that unless reversed soon, the world's population will reach 14 billion people in a hundred or more years. (David and Arnold Brody)
