In February 1994, we adopted a frisky little kitten from the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, Massachusetts. After a couple of days of deliberation, we decided to name him Johann, after Johann Olav Koss, the Norwegian speedskater who was in the process of winning three Olympic gold medals in the Lillehammer games. Since then, Johann has become Little Jo, a special part of our family.
