Friends of the List | submit software | e-mail Zippy

It's annoying when developers claim to support Pocket PCs, but what they mean is that their Palm-size PC software might work on them or runs only on a selection of processors (grrr). So in honor of the Windows CE developers who go full out to provide ALL Pocket PC owners with REAL Pocket PC software, I've set up the All of the Pocket PCs Software List.

There's only three criteria for software to get on the List:

  1. It has to have been developed/upgraded to the Pocket PC interface
  2. It must support all current processor platforms for Pocket PC
  3. It's gotta be available somewhere on the Internet!
[new] = recent entry      [update] = updated info

The Exceptions List

I've revamped the Exceptions List! Tiring of it languishing while figuring another company to tweak into getting Pocket PC software to the public, I've instead decided to use it to highlight some of the interesting *stuff* out there that relates to the Pocket PC. But I'll still post tweaks when needed. :)

Virtual iPAQ
Need an iPAQ emulator? Virtual iPAQ is not quite that, but a way to remote control your Compaq Pocket PC from a desktop/laptop PC. With it you use your PC's keyboard and mouse to direct most aspects of the iPAQ through Virtual iPAQ's funky desktop interface (it uses a 'skin' of the iPAQ's case). You can also capture screenshots, record and playback onscreen activity, and a 2x zoom is there if the screen just isn't big enough. Free and registered versions ($10) are available. Larry/bitbank, creator of this little app, is planning versions for the HP Jornada 54x and Casio E-1xx/EM-50x. So those not sporting an iPAQ, stay tuned...

PowerPoint in Your Pocket
No, Microsoft did not release a version of PowerPoint for the Pocket PC, but Jason Dunn over at PocketPC.com provides you with information and pointers on how to go about getting PowerPoint presentations onto your handheld. Jason also goes through a step-by-step for preparing them for use in one of the Pocket PC graphics programs, several of which you can find listed in the Graphics & Media section
